Carrie Swim

Houston-born Carrie Swim has always embraced creativity, using any tool at her disposal to share a message of life's wonders and challenges. Fueled by curiosity and a deep empathy for humanity, she translates the beauty found in pressure and transformation into her art.

Swim's signature style, lyrical abstraction, is informed by both movement and sound. Her paintings are a continually evolving visual language, drawing upon her classical training in drawing, painting, and printmaking (acquired through her BFA at Baylor and studies in Italy). During her Master's at the University of Kansas and her subsequent New York career, she honed her ability to capture the essence of human experience through abstraction.

A unique process called "body painting" lies at the heart of Swim's work. Here, she becomes one with the canvas, using her body as a brush to translate movement, sound, and spirit into layers of color and form. Each piece is an invitation for the viewer to step into an atmospheric experience pulsating with the rhythm of her creation.
