Edward Spitz

Edward Spitz is a boundary-pushing artist who transforms vintage, rare prints into timeless, one-of-a-kind art statements. His work begins with printed media: vintage newspapers, magazines, and comics, which he reimagines as contemporary art that bridges the past and the future. Central to his process is resin, chosen for its ability to preserve, enhance, and immortalize the visual and emotional depth of his work. Each piece is created entirely by hand, starting with original newspapers and comic pages as the foundation. The artist paints each character freehand, without using stencils. Nothing is collaged or pre-printed. Every figure is individually crafted, ensuring that each artwork is truly one of a kind.
The resin's glossy finish transforms fragile printed media into bold, enduring pieces that captivate. Every piece by Spitz draws from the rich tapestry of pop culture. For the artist, pop culture is more than entertainment. It’s a reflection of society’s dreams, contradictions, and history. His work celebrates iconic figures and stories, reimagining them through printed media and bringing them to life in vivid, dynamic, and unexpected ways. Read more...
