Korean-born artist Mario Jung’s multi-faceted talent allows him to create richly colored landscapes brimming with light, texture, and warmth. Brushstrokes announced by fields of color and thick oil paint bring viewers to the setting sun across the spanning fields of poppies or nestle them safely under a resplendent shaded tree. Like handwriting, Jung’s painting’s surface communicates its own reality rather than being a smooth window into an illusionist world beyond. The use of thick, rich impasto and masterful brushstrokes lend themselves to help convey hope, feelings, and memories, expressing the artist’s emotions as a response to the subject. The paintings gently captivate the viewer’s attention with his colorful, majestic landscapes depicting nature’s cycle, through the seasons, and an idyllic world.
