Bernie Taupin mentioned the music video for Robert Palmer’s song “Addicted To Love” when he said that the video with all the identical models was close to his vision of how Bennie And The Jets could have looked: a futuristic rock and roll band of androids fronted by an androgynous beauty. Elton John’s idea for adding a futuristic and robotic theme to the lyrics was to stutter the word “Bennie.”
