Trance II

Craig Alan
Trance II, Populus Homage, 2021.
Original mixed media on wood board with resin.
Signed at the lower margin.
This artwork is wall-ready.

Craig Alan’s mixed-media artworks are created by applying layers of paint on wood board and scraping its surface to create a multi-layered and textured background. Alan mixes traditional and modern techniques to create the composition. After laying the image of the artwork onto the board, tiny print elements that were originally hand-cut by the artist act as a basis for the artwork and are stenciled on. The micro populations are given hand-painted details to bring them to life, and to show their personalities. Shadows are applied to create depth and movement as the end result. Craig Alan finishes each piece with a rich reflective clear resin, giving the artwork a contemporary appeal.
