Flowers and poppies are among the most recognizable subjects in Sultan’s body of work. Rather than approaching them through traditional botanical realism, he reduces natural forms to powerful silhouettes and simplified shapes. In Yellows, the vibrant palette immediately commands attention while repetition, contrast, and negative space give the composition its distinctive contemporary character.

Texture is essential to the visual experience. Sultan combines silkscreen printing with enamel inks, flocking, and tar-like texture, giving the surface a physical presence that distinguishes the work from conventional prints on paper. The tactile materials contrast with the delicacy traditionally associated with flowers, creating the tension between organic imagery and substantial materials that is central to Sultan’s artistic language.
