Raised on a sprawling, generations-old farm, I was surrounded by nature’s beauty. Unlike my cousins and brother, I craved art, a yearning far removed from our rural life. Feeling different, I found solace under the dining table, a refuge from teasing and unspoken disapproval. Here, reflected in the china cabinet’s glass, I discovered my own universe – portraits, paintings, and everyday objects merging in a mesmerizing display. In that fragmented world, I understood that the art I craved was as precious and fragile as the heirlooms held within. — Lúcio Carvalho.
