The Kintsugi Philosophy is the cornerstone of the “Golden” series. Matera draws direct inspiration from Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The philosophy behind Kintsugi is that the breaks and repairs are part of the object’s history, making it more beautiful and valuable, rather than something to be hidden. Matera translates this concept to the human experience.
