Geometric Vibrant Blue OH

Marlene Rose
Geometric Vibrant Blue OH,  2022.
Original sand-cast glass sculpture with metal structure.
Hand-etched on verso.

Marlene Rose is a leading American artist renowned for her breathtaking sand-cast glass sculptures. Born in 1967, Rose’s artistic journey began surrounded by creativity, with a painter mother and a sculptor father. This early exposure to art forms undoubtedly influenced her own path to becoming a master of a unique glass sculpting technique.

Rose’s specialty lies in sand casting, a method adapted from bronze casting. Molten glass is poured into individual sand molds, each destroyed after a single use, resulting in unique glass creations. This technique imbues her sculptures with a sense of timelessness, echoing the enduring qualities of ancient artistic processes.
