Eurydice III is part of a long sculptural tradition of placing elements in different contexts to create new meanings and evoke different emotions. Rodin brought this method of seeing “anew” into the modern era. The female figure of Eurydice III is taken from the narrative context of Orpheus and Eurydice and now exists as an exemplar of female beauty. — Richard MacDonald.
