Hen Women, Original
Salvador Dalí
Faust, Hen Women, 1968.
Original drawing, watercolor, and ink on archival paper.
Hand-signed in the lower margin.
Created in 1968, Hen Women is a unique original drawing by Salvador Dalí in watercolor and ink on archival paper. Associated with Dalí’s interpretation of Goethe’s Faust, the work demonstrates how the artist transformed literary subjects into imaginative Surrealist compositions. Fluid lines and delicate color application give the figure a strange, dreamlike presence characteristic of Dalí’s visual language.
Unlike an editioned print, this is an original work created directly by Dalí’s hand and signed in the lower margin. The drawing comes from the distinguished Pierre Argillet Collection, formed through Dalí’s longtime collaboration and friendship with publisher and collector Pierre Argillet. Its originality, literary connection, and important provenance make Hen Woman an exceptional work for collectors of Salvador Dalí and 20th-century Surrealism.
