Weeping Willow (Le Saule Pleureur) (1968) is an original hand-colored etching by Salvador Dalí from the celebrated Ronsard: Les Amours de Cassandre portfolio. Published by Pierre Argillet, Dalí’s close friend and longtime publisher, the series was inspired by the poetry of French Renaissance writer Pierre de Ronsard, whose verses celebrate love, beauty, nature, and the passage of time.

In this elegant composition, Dalí transforms the symbolic weeping willow into a poetic meditation on memory, longing, and mortality. The flowing branches echo the lyrical rhythm of Ronsard’s poetry while Dalí’s surrealist imagination introduces dreamlike symbolism and visual ambiguity.
