Nude with Garter
Salvador Dalí
The Hippies – Nude with Garter (Nu à la Jarretière), 1969–1970.
Original hand-colored copper etching on archival paper.
Signed and numbered at the lower margins.
Nude with Garter (1969) is an original hand-colored drypoint etching by Salvador Dalí from the celebrated Les Hippies portfolio. Published by Pierre Argillet, Dalí’s close friend and longtime publisher, the series was inspired by photographs Argillet brought back from India during the height of the “Love and Peace” movement. Rather than documenting the counterculture, Dalí transformed it into a dreamlike world of radiant halos, flowing figures, and surreal symbolism. In Nude with Garter, the female figure becomes an emblem of freedom, beauty, and imagination, rendered through Dalí’s elegant line work and unmistakable surrealist vocabulary. Hand-signed and numbered in pencil, this museum-quality etching represents one of the most distinctive works from the celebrated Dalí-Argillet collaboration.
Suite of 11 original drypoint etchings published in 1969–1970. 20 x 25 inches. Edition size: 1-145
Signed, numbered, and hand-colored on Arches and I-C with hand-coloring on Japanese paper.
