Sylvia Angeli brings a highly trained hand to her canvases, honed through studies at Sam Houston State University, Rice University, and the prestigious Glassell School of Art in Houston. A deep appreciation for European art, particularly French traditions, led her to Les Illusions School in Les Cerqueux, France, where she studied with New York artist Ted Jacobs. This experience profoundly influenced her work, deepening her passion for the Old Masters and their techniques. Painting daily, often en plein air, and absorbing the knowledge of fellow students and instructors, Angeli embraced the power of chiaroscuro, drawn to the mystery and spirituality it evokes in the works of the Old Masters—qualities she consciously infuses into her art.
