Tom Everhart’s “I’ve Got Ants In My Pants” is inspired by his relationship with Charles M. Schulz and his own near-death experience. It’s about the restless energy to create art, a feeling he likens to James Brown’s “Ants in My Pants.” He uses Snoopy’s dance moves to express this energy. The artwork blends his experiences with the rhythms of water and light from his studios in Venice Beach and French Polynesia. He also incorporates semiotics, rearranging elements like music, dance, and Schulz’s imagery to create a new narrative. Ultimately, the piece explores what drives creative thinking, suggesting that anything – fascinating, new, beautiful, or even silly – can be the “ants in your pants” that fuel artistic expression.
