Tahiti’s dramatic skies inspire the Partly Cloudy, Morning Fly Series; I create paintings that go beyond typical landscapes. I use Snoopy, the flying ace, to showcase the beauty and power of these ever-changing clouds. My paintings combine the playful Snoopy with titles like “Partly Cloudy, Morning Fly, ” to hint at the real subject: the persistent housefly, a daily companion in the tropics, set against a backdrop of Tahiti’s magnificent clouds. The titles, starting with “6:00 Morning Fly,” playfully track the fly’s (and Snoopy’s) adventures throughout the day. — Tom Everhart.
