Homie Dreams Suite (2012) by Tom Everhart is a six-piece series featuring portraits of beloved Peanuts characters such as Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Pigpen, and Lucy, each imagined in a dreamlike state. Every character is connected to a real artist who influenced Everhart’s life. For example, Gang Star Dreams honors Charles Schulz, Samo Dreams reflects Jean-Michel Basquiat, Girlfriend Dreams is inspired by Joan Mitchell, Home Girl Dreams nods to Bridget Riley, Hipster Dog Dreams recalls Philip Guston, and Mr. Big Stuff Dreams pays tribute to Andy Warhol. The characters are set against expressive and colorful backgrounds. The series reflects Everhart’s idea that creativity flourishes in dream states, moments when conscious limits fall away and imagination flows freely, much like in childhood.
